Environment

To me the environment means a place where you are surrounded by. The things and/or people in that place make up the environment.

This is what the mac dictionary says:
The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
• the setting or conditions in which a particular activity is carried on : a good learning environment.[This sort of environment is quite abstract in the sense that its the vibes you get from that place not the things that are there.]

Look at the amount of different meanings environment. They are all completely different .

All in all I now think environment just means a place something or someone is surrounded by.
